ACP - Accelerated Communication Program

inlingua Vancouver’s ACP – Accelerated Communication Program is an English course for students who want to improve their English language skills through a variety of lesson styles, including one to one lessons at the end of each day. This is an excellent opportunity for very serious students who desire individual attention they wouldn’t normally receive in larger group lessons. Students will improve their speaking, listening, pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing and vocabulary skills and then have a chance to focus on their individual weakness in a one to one lesson at the end of each day.

ACP – Accelerated Communication Program is an English course for hard-working students who want to enjoy the benefits of our very dynamic group lessons while also receiving a more individually focused, goal oriented program. ACP students will take inlingua Vancouver’s morning Speaking Lessons, where they will be improving their communication skills using the inlingua method – a highly communicative style of learning. This method allows students to practice using target language and become fluent much more quickly.

In the afternoon, ACP students can choose from a wide range of Elective Lessons such as Speaking, Grammar Plus, English Brush Up, Pronunciation, Listening, Fluency and Accuracy, Business and Writing. These electives are designed to allow students to target a specific language skill, build confidence through practice and therefore improve fluency and comprehension.

The final stage of each day consists of a one to one lesson from 2:40-3:25PM. ACP students will receive individualized lessons catered to their specific needs in order to target any English skills the student may be struggling with. By having this one to one lesson at the end of each day our instructors are able to give students the attention and direction they require. This will give the ACP student an advantage when they return to their morning lesson as they will have clarified and practiced the most difficult aspects of the prior lessons.

Course Schedule

The ACP - Accelerated Communication Program is an English course that includes 35 lessons per week (20 inlingua Speaking Lessons + 10 Elective Lessons + 5 One to One Lessons). This course starts at 9:00 AM and finishes at 3:25 PM, from Monday to Friday.

35 Lessons = 26.25 Hours per week.

On the first day of the course, all students will be interviewed and given a placement test to determine their AM speaking lesson level, from 1A to 5B. Each Level will then run for 4 weeks.

During the first One to One lesson, the instructor will go through a needs assessment with the student and then create an outline for the month based on that student’s individual needs. This outline will then be reviewed by the Director of Studies before being implemented.

This course can be started in any of the four weeks which make up a term.

Course Requirements

ACP – Accelerated Communication Program has no requirements or prerequisites other than a desire to work hard and improve one’s English skills.

Testing and Examination

The morning Speaking Lessons consist of weekly quizzes for levels 1A through 2B. For levels 3A through 5B, students write 2 quizzes and do one mid-term presentation. Students at all levels write a final exam at the end of the term and have a final presentation.

Regarding elective lessons, students are required to attend every day to fulfill their academic commitment and cover the curriculum. Homework load varies from elective to elective.

During the One to One lessons, students are continuously evaluated by their instructors. They correct student’s errors consistently and, if necessary, adapt the curriculum to any changes in student’s needs.
